Join Fabio Fernández, Executive Director of the Society of Arts and Crafts, as he leads a lively conversation with three members of Boston’s arts community.

In this panel, we discuss the role that artists and entrepreneurs, non-profits and the City of Boston work together to foster the creative economy. Full-time craftsperson and foodie Jeremy Ogusky shares his experiences of being a potter, the rewarding relationships he has crafted with local restaurants, and the spirit of entrepreneurship that makes it all possible. Lorraine Johnson speaks to the mission of Artists for Humanity, which trains, employs, and mentors under-served teens through part-time employment in creating commissioned art projects. Sitting on the Board of Directors at Fort Point Arts Community, Jen Mecca is deeply involved with the City of Boston’s Boston Creates initiative and discusses the responsibilities of community leaders in ensuring support and advocacy for the arts.

Together, panelists and moderator will explore the workings of the creative economy, drawing from real-life examples that shed light on the challenges, successes, and values of the creative community today.
